| Hi guys, on the hunt for a competent installation person/company based local to me to fit some stuff into the 650i - would rather it went to an established place for obvious reasons. Also may need to fit some parts we have already sourced.
Any helpful suggestions welcome.
Thanks | |

Whittle, what are they like with using externally sourced parts (alongside their own)?

| shouldnt be an issue at all, they may charge a bit more for fitting etc if you are only using your own bits, but if you buy bits from them they should be ok with it
bear in mind the retailers markup is about 32% on audio so you have a massive scope for haggling, particuarly if you're buying £500+ worth of stuff (but obviously i didnt just say that)
martin (or martyn) the fitter is amazing at fabbing wood and fibreglass to make installs etc
what are you looking at getting done? pricewise etc
i was thinkning using the stock h/u then running the amps of your choice through a JLaudio cleansweep
thats how i did a range rover once when i worked there, sounded absolutely amazing

| The s**t we want done is pretty simple, the 650 already has the loaded iDrive system with digital TV and extended linguatronics, my old man just wants PIM (picture in motion) with 2 av inputs for a DVD player/changer and maybe something else. Ideally it would have a 1/2 din dvd player in the glove box, but a changer in the boot wouldn't be too bad. Quotes so far including the PIM/AV module with DVD fitting included are around the £1200 mark, but we'd like to see it below the thousand really. It will of course all need to be operated through the stock iDrive system.
Could you run than amp set up through my BMW prof. HU in my 1er?

Could you run than amp set up through my BMW prof. HU in my 1er? tbh im a bit (read: alot) out of touch with the hardware side of things but im sure the two guys at cca will know the reason i suggested a cleansweep is to utilize all the features you have with the stock h/u, but allows you to 'piggyback' external amps etc to it. Factory h/u are always equalized in a way to make the stock install sound as good as possible, and the cleansweep will allow you to re-equalize it to suit your new system.

You know you really should start to think about your finances now you're self employed - and as luck would have it, we happen to sell Income Protection for the self employed... what are the odds!

| Actually income protection doesn't cover unemployment, it actually means if you have to take time off work due to illness or an accident you still get paid. Face. | |
