| For the moment I just want to get the little mofo running and back on the road again as quickly as possible. Think I've managed to source an original 1.6 GTI lump for it, just need to make time to go and collect it. | |

| Nothing too exciting, PG block and head are largely stock apart from a lightened flywheel and balanced bottom end. Turbo is a T3 off a 4x4 Cossie and it's sitting on an ATP cast manifold. Not even sure if it'll all fit in the engine bay of a mk1 using that manifold. | |

| Looks like it should fit mate. A few folks fit carbs on 8v's and they stick out a fair bit | |

| Yeah, stripped the guts out of a crashed Corrado so have the loom and ECU together with the fuse box, although I'd probably just splice the engine loom into the Mk1's wiring, from what I remember the G60's wiring was pretty simple. | |

| Si told me about this earlier. Damn that's a bit bad but like the idea of turning it into a 2L. You'll need an adaptor ring to run the original dizzy though. Try TSR for 1 | |

| Aye, seems like a plan, not sure if it's ever been done with one of these early heads, need to do some research. Wonder what the compression ratio will be with the head being flat?!
UPDATE: Looks like the 1.6 head and the AGG block are incompatible.....balls. However am now chasing up a DX block and head, determined to salvage something out of this debacle! | |

| Cheers fella, yeah this one looks ok and it actually turns over which is half the battle! It's complete too which will save me a lot of faffing about looking for missing bits. Just needs a good clean and a fresh coat of paint! | |

| Finally got the motor stripped of all it's ancillaries, amazingly cleaning funky Golf engines doesn't even feature in my top ten favorite Sunday afternoon activities! I know, wtf innit?

| Cheers fella, just went at it with a tin of petrol and a paint brush followed by a good wire brushing. Used one of the softer wire brushes so as not to scratch it up too much. However it's amazing how many nooks and crannies the 020 has that are near enough impossible to get properly clean. Oh well, they're pretty well hidden! | |
