does anyone know if i can i get a wiring harness that will convert this to ISO....???......I'd rather do it that way than chop the wires as im unsure what all 3 are for. One is red (live im guessing), one is brown (ground) and the other is blue/grey stripe (no idea)

right, i've used a spare spade on the back of the fusebox to run an ignition feed. stereo came on and all worked fine until i started switching other stuff on (hazards, indicators etc) and now it wont come on and relay 60 buzzes (with is for glowplugs?????) the hazards dont work, the indicators dont work. I've removed the wire i put on back of fusebox and it makes no difference ?!?!?!?!?!?!.....anyone stereo install 730194

did i send you a link to the fuse box diagram on the mk1 owners club?

cos there are some conectors on the back f8-f16 or something, they are spare switched lives, i run my stereo through them and it works a treat.

as for 60 relay, if its for glow plugs i'm not sure any more if i have it!

thats what i have done, i used the multimeter to test the spare spades on the back and found a switched ignition one. Like i said it all worked fine and the powered antena that i fixed to the inside of the window worked a treat too. so with the CD blasting out i thought i'd make sure everything else worked (incase the wiring i did from the spades was shite). when i flicked the hazards on the stereo flickered on and off with the hazards, and now they dont work, neither do the indicators (static green light on dash) stereo install 730194 stereo install 730194

get a flasher relay too then mate!

i used g3 or 4 for mine no probs. i even hard wired an amp into the switched live too with no problems

can you be a bit more specific about what terminal you plugged into?

that block labled "G"

is on the back of the right hand side as you look at the fuse box in situ.

i think i used G3 cant say for certain. I've already changed the flasher relay (position 12, relay number 21 i think it was) i even robbed the one from the wifes cabby and put mine in hers to confirm it was working. changed the 15amp fuse in position 4 too......i've brought the battery in to charge it over night as i've run it down with all the messing about, i'll have another crack 2moro when my mood improves stereo install 730194 stereo install Lol

Ok, regarding the fusebox and the rest of the Mk1 stuff im flumoxed.
Mainly as I have nothing to do with them! stereo install Icon_razz

But....
On the side of putting the stereo in, you might want one of these...

stereo install 70-1784
stereo install 71-1784

Basically chop your block off at where the wires join to it, and then wire one of these (depending on the back of the unit you want to put in) in place to replace it. That way you can have a modern stereo in your old motor.
Just remember which wire does what, and then use that to correlate to the new unit.

I bought one recently as my harness in my Mk4 doesnt have wires for rear speakers. So bought an autolead harness, and just spliced off the two wires to the rear to some speakers i put in.
Hey presto, working rears.
