I don't know about Chris but after yesterday I ache like feck.
Oh and I must thank Chris as without his help and drive (and staple gun to the tricep)
it would not have got done for ages yet.... Thanks Chris.

As a side this goes to show why forums like this one are great, and we had a bloody good laugh during the day too
(even when I had a paddy and spat my dummy out)

lots more left to do, some of which I shall be sorting during the day, some like repainting the wheels will happen tonight.
I'm deffo not going to make it for Fridays meet, which gives me a few weeks to complete it and get it right.

Mike,

tried firing it last night and all I got was a click.
I suspect a shite battery, going to swap out the battery tonight and jump the starter direct.
All the lights and amcilleries worked (didn't check the wiper) and I know it needs fuel.
Last of the braided lines can go on tonight and I need to make a pipe across the beam.

It's so close

Little update with pics to follow shortly....

This was definately the most pain in the backside muther fecking pig to get started.

Short story long, the dizzy would only fire on cylinder one wand get some clampsdue to only having one cut out for the hall sender and the cps taking over and dealing with the rest of the cylinders but as im running the digifant ecu not the mk3.5 agg one i was screwed, to cure this I had to get an original dizzy from a digifant which steve caddy man came to the rescue with but only to find it was a kjet one doh !!
So ebay here we came and a whole £3.01 later I had one winging its way to me.
hoo bloody ray I cried but only too soon as the bottom gear didnt fit and I had to swap it out for the one from the agg dizzy (read as pain in arse) and after a long chat around a fw dub mates discovered that I needed a spigot ring making to hold the pb dizzy in place (tsr £30)

With all this done first turn of the key brrrrruuuummm It bloody lived.. lumpy but it lived.

I have recently put the rest of the exhaust system on, I need to mount it correctly and get some clamps to sort it.

All the brakes are on and done, thanks to matty mk1 for finally finding the right handbrake cables eventually.

All the air filter is back together and the afm all cleaned out and moving freely with no sticking (that didnt cause too many fueling issues......muuuch)

I still have to sort out a little issue with the power steering pump (do that later ) but more pressing is the oil pressure light which wont go out (grrrr)
The pumps been out, cleaned and the gauze unclogged, fresh oil and filter and still flash flash flash.
I am going to swap out the pressure senders on the head and oil filter housing, but I actually suspect the wiring.

I have yet to get some water pump/pas/alternator belts .. easy fix though.

It's off of its axle stands and resting on its own wheels finally, I havent even tried the gearbox ( need g/box oil !!)

So I dont even know if it bloody drives !!!!

Using the 2e dizzy doesn't work in the agg block as it doesn't fit the hole and would also need a spigot ring.
I tried one for fit but it was sloppy.

Don't be like that bridgedubber, but the dizzy I picked up that I believed to be a 2e one didn't fit correctly.
You may well be right but mine didn't fit.
Tsr said the 2e didn't fit.
Autobarn said the 2e didn't fit.
Ian Birch said he didn't think it would fit.
So when the dizzy I had (which I believed to be 2e) didn't fit I kind of went with the three big names in the vw tuning worlds opinion, even though like you I wasn't convinced that there wasn't something in the parts bin that would've/could've/should've fitted.
After playing with these cars for over twenty five years now, I'm now completely wet behind the ears with them, but I am always willing to learn something.
I'm hoping that you have some insight you could share with me on this.

when i did the conversion i went on the famous forums such as edition and clubgti (if thats what its called???) and looked it up and asked around.

i read that the 2e dizzy works with the mk2 digi, pb head and agg bottom end set up. i bought a used 2e dizzy for £15 and it works.

what i also learnt was, that if you want to you can use the tsr adapter plate and the original pb dizzy.

however if carrying out the conversion on a kjet car then the adapter is a must.

i think i also read if you put the gear off of the bottom of the agg dizzy on to the pb dizzy, you can use the pb dizzy this way, though i may of just made this up

thats why what you found is confusing me! Question Question Question

Right it may be the way I wrote it.

I ended up using the pb dizzy with the spigot ring and the agg gear on the bottom.

A bloody pain to get to this point but it worked.
I, didn't read the other forums (ed38,pvw) but spoke to guys who should know but they're not always right as is probably the case this time.

If I had used the 2e dizzy it certainly would've caused me a lot less hassle and money as the spigots are thirty quid a pop.
So it's lesson learnt I guess.
I've done this conversion previously but took all the loom and Ecu at the same time so just didn't have this issue as it was plug and play right to the fuse box, key in, turn, broooom ! Job done.
So I was confused as to why I had starting issues when it would only fire on one cylinder at a time, till the penny dropped.

Doh !
