| This is like the pre 67 wing wrongun debate. I prefer them 'right' but would take a good solid wrongun over a badly rotten stocker. Certain parts look good together while some won't so it's the individual car that should be judged. | |

| I think if I were buying, I'd want an original - there's that niggle about trusting other people's work. Might not be up to scratch?
As Tiz said there's more to the S1s that just the rear panel, but that seems to be what makes them for a lot of people.
Don't really care what other people do with their cars, and it doesn't offend me when people do it. Not sure if I'd do it myself though.

| i dont care really but i do think swallow tails should only be the real jobby, bout 50 odd differences in a swallow tail and i think its awsome when theres a mind example with all the bits still on from factory. i can argue to much and say dont do this or that as im putting chrome bumpers and s1 interior and parts on my caddy which has s2 stuff on it | |

All of a sudden, he's cut the arse off it Like i've said, each to there own and all that, just thought i'd see what other thought

| i bought my car already converted to s1 spec, and at the time it was the best one i could find at the time for the money. i think if its already modded then mod it more, if not leave it standard(ish) | |

- Whats your thoughts on fake series 1 golfs?.
For those who dont understand. Mk1 golf rear panel with large clusters cut off just to fit the small cluster rear panel from an earlier mk1 golf. I've always thought, why make something its not. I know series 1's are hard to come by but surely if thats the look you want, you'd search and pay the going rate for 1 right? Does welding in the seies 1 panel get you in some exclusive club or is it just to please the crowd at shows. There's also that wheel-whore saying, 'fake splits can f**k off', so does this fall in the same pot? I'am sure this will get a mixed view so i've added a poll as i know you love them lol not fussed personally (as longs as its not attempted to pass off as something its not if for sale etc) - if it looks good, you like it, its cheaper than the real thing and the fact its not the real thing does not bother you then happy days, save a few £. If I was in the market for one then yes, I would prefer the real thing but if a car I liked came along that had a small rear cluster grafted on then it wouldnt put me off if the price was right. Same with fake splits, if I wanted a set of BBS RS's for example, I would have no issues running fakes if they were good ones, as there is no way I would pay the prices some of the genuine sets go for these days. Also with the car being used daily I would not want the hassle of looking after them and worrying about them getting stolen or kerbed.

| Jesus a resurrection from the past, interesting though
Where do you draw the line ? Rallye lights on Mk2s or Jetta/vento front ends on Mk3s ?
If It's your car and you want it done then do it, but don't expect the gay scene Nazi's to let it escape thier girly school yard quips.
Over the years I've seen a lot of copying occour, this is how fashion trends start, like big wheels on Mk2s or split fronts on a bay, wide arches from a g60, big bumpers on an early Mk2 or even mk1.
The list is endless.
I personally have very narrow vision for what I do and don't like, but that's just for what I'd like for me but I'd not knock someone for wanting a swallowtail, and making it happen from s later shell, mate if you've got the skills and can do it, knock yourself out brother.
